Group and Admissions Information:
The Vehicle Control and Intelligence Laboratory (VCI) at Jilin University was established in 2010. The team is led by Professor Zhu Bing and focuses on frontier research in automotive intelligence technologies, equipped with world-class full-stack platforms for intelligent vehicle technology R&D and testing. The team has cultivated four Top 10 Graduate Students of Jilin University and five Top 10 Undergraduate Students of Jilin University, with more than 30 recipients of the National Scholarship. It has been awarded two doctoral student research grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Graduates have received three Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations from the China Society of Automotive Engineers, two Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations of Jilin Province, three Outstanding Doctoral Dissertations of Jilin University, six Outstanding Master's Theses of Jilin Province, and fourteen Outstanding Master's Theses of Jilin University. The team has also been granted over 30 student innovation projects and has won five national second prizes and one national third prize in the "Challenge Cup" Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition, along with two provincial special prizes and five provincial first prizes. Alumni are now employed at prestigious universities such as Jilin University and Chang'an University, as well as leading companies including FAW, SAIC, GAC, Huawei, BYD, Baidu, DJI, NIO, Li Auto, and XPENG.
I recruit at least three master's students and one doctoral student each year from majors including Vehicle Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Instrumentation and Electronics, Mathematics, and Communication Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate strong teamwork, a spirit of innovation and perseverance, and good communication skills. A solid programming foundation in Python/PyTorch, Matlab/Simulink, and C++, along with some experience in autonomous driving simulation toolchains, is desirable. Familiarity with theories and methods in multi-agent systems, autonomous driving, reinforcement learning, meta-learning, world models, generative AI, and embodied intelligence is preferred. Candidates with relevant project experience, publications, or competition records will be given priority. Excellent doctoral and master's candidates from home and abroad are warmly welcome to join!
