The 2026 Formula Student Tournament China wrapped up successfully in Zhengzhou, Henan Province on May 24, 2026. Though not an official championship round, this event serves as a high-level competitive platform for top university racing teams to showcase vehicle dynamic performance and driving prowess, boasting outstanding sportiness and spectator appeal. Jilin University’s two racing teams delivered remarkable performances and returned laden with honours.

Fielding the championship vehicle from the 2025 season, the Gspeed FUTURE Vector, the Gspeed Combustion Formula Team claimed first place in the Endurance Event and secured the second overall national ranking, topping all combustion and hybrid-powered formula entries.

The Gspeed-Konghui Electric Formula Team raced with its 2025 title-winning machine Gspeed Vela, taking second place in the Acceleration Test and third in the Sprint Shootout. The team finished fourth nationwide overall, ranking second among all electric formula teams.

A standout highlight went to driver Sun Jiaze, who set three consecutive personal best lap times in the Endurance Race. With a fastest lap of 53.657 seconds, he was awarded the special "Seasoned Driver" trophy for the quickest endurance lap.

Every driver fielded by both Jilin University teams had never competed in official track events prior to this tournament. The core objective was to nurture new rookies, hone young drivers’ skills, exchange experience with peers from other universities, and collectively advance the future of Formula Student racing in China.

While the teams set no predefined performance targets, the new generation of young members proved their robust self-discipline and sharp adaptability through stellar results. The tournament posed all-round tests to the competitors’ technical know-how, teamwork and emergency response capabilities. From the crew’s efficient suspension repairs to the driver squad’s calm handling under pressure to safeguard the endurance race result, every team member received comprehensive training amid high-stakes competition.

Smooth resolutions to countless unexpected on-track incidents greatly boosted the team’s on-site responsiveness, rapid vehicle repair proficiency and collaborative capacity. The experience also strengthened internal cohesion, cultivating a composed and resilient competitive mindset across all members. The event fully embodied the educational philosophy of promoting learning and teaching through motorsport competitions.

Since its inauguration in 2010, the Formula Student series in China has spanned sixteen years, evolving into a pivotal practical training platform for cultivating automotive engineering talent nationwide. For this 2026 tournament, teams were required to race vehicles that passed official inspection in the 2025 season. The competition’s focus shifted from engineering design development to comprehensive tuning of vehicle dynamic performance and driver technique, aiming to deliver more thrilling technical duels with heightened sportiness, viewability and fun. It brought together top-tier university racing teams from across the country for a grand technical gathering.
